Airport Road, August 29, 2015 - Effective August 31 the National Flag Carrier of St. Maarten WINAIR will offer daily service St. Maarten –Cane Field –St. Maarten using twin engine otters. Due to closure and ongoing repairs at Melville Hall Airport this service will provide much needed connectivity to our customers in Dominica and allow WINAIR to repatriate Dominicans who need to get home.

WINAIR has planned this service for 10 days and it is our hope that access to Dominica's main Douglas Charles airport can be repaired and airport will be operational soon allowing return of service with ATR aircraft with our partner Air Antilles.

Airport Road, September 1, 2015 – WINAIR is the first airline to resume scheduled service into Dominica as the main airport Douglas Charles sustained damage during the passing of Tropical storm Erika. WINAIR has resumed service with the DHC 600 Twin Otter to Canefield Airport in Dominica. Winair will operate daily service for the next 10 days, when field conditions allow WINAIR and its partner Air Antilles will resume service into Douglas Charles airport utilizing ATR 500 aircraft.


This temporary service to alternative airport Canefield in Dominica is a first step in Dominica’s return to normalcy. This flight provides concrete support and air connectivity to Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten to the people of Dominica.

Airport Road, September 9, 2015 – WINAIR has extended its scheduled service from Princess Juliana International airport in St. Maarten to Canefield airport in Dominica until October 25, 2015. This flight provides concrete support and air connectivity to the people of Dominica in the wake of Tropical Storm Erika. WINAIR continues service with the DHC 600 Twin Otter to Canefield airport in Dominica 5 times per week, until field conditions allow WINAIR and its partner Air Antilles to resume service into Douglas Charles airport utilizing ATR 500 aircraft.

AIRPORT ROAD, St. Maarten, February 25, 2016 – For their “Community Workers” project the children of group 4 of the Asha Stevens Hillside Christian School had chosen “Pilot” as their topic and requested WINAIR and the SXM Airport to accommodate a field trip where the children would have the opportunity to learn more about Pilots and Aviation.

WINAIR and SXM Airport were happy to host that field trip today February 25, 2016, in collaboration with Domino’s Pizza.

The children got to experience the security procedure at the airport, see a WINAIR airplane and interview WINAIR Captain Michael Jeffrey, First Officer Alexander Spencer and other pilots.

At WINAIR Maintenance, Augustine Dorset showed the children what a mechanic’s job entails.

And last but not least, the children were treated to Domino’s pizza in the departure hall of SXM Airport.
